Learn More About Our Services

We know that moving can be stressful and the concept of senior moving services may lead to lots of questions. Below are the most frequently asked questions that we receive about our services. If you have questions that you do not find on the list, please contact us directly and we will happily help!

What makes Moves for Seniors different from other moving companies?

The easy answer is that we are not just a moving company. Yes, we will move your belongings when you relocate or we will safely deliver your family treasures to your loved ones anywhere in America. But arranging the physical move is just part of what we do. Moves for Seniors is a single resource for all of your senior moving needs. We will help design your move and manage any other services you may need, like packing, donating, clearing out, or creating a floor plan for your new home. Our Facilitators will help you with the difficult decisions that surround any move, especially moves made by older adults.

How does the process work with Moves for Seniors?

When you contact Moves for Seniors, you will speak with one of our highly trained Senior Move Specialists. We take a step-by-step consultative approach to understand the unique needs around your move and present you with all of the options available. Once you choose the services that work best, we begin to coordinate everything with our local partners in your area.  Our team will schedule all services and be your single point of contact through the experience.

Do you provide service in my area?

Most likely, the answer is yes. Moves for Seniors provides moving services in every state except Alaska. Our network of licensed and insured vendor partners including local and long-distance movers, labor-only services, removal of unwanted items, and Professional Organizers can be found throughout the country.

How much does it cost to consult with Moves for Seniors?

It costs you absolutely nothing for a consultation. We will provide pricing so you can decide which services best meet your needs.

How much do your services cost?

The cost of the services will vary depending on your needs. Many people do not realize that moving is regulated at the state and federal levels, so pricing depends on where you are located in the country. We are happy to perform a free consultation to provide an estimate based on your specific needs.

How does payment work?

Part of the service we provide is that we collect payment from our customers and then pay any of our vendor partners who perform the physical services. This avoids the confusion of you keeping track of payments to multiple companies.

Who are Facilitators?

Facilitators are Professional Organizers who are experts at assisting with the emotional and physical aspects of relocation. Many Facilitators have backgrounds in gerontology, social work, and the corporate world of project management. Our Facilitators are carefully vetted and selected. These individuals have a profound commitment to connecting with older adults to perform meaningful work and assist during an important life transition.

Why are Senior Move Facilitators needed now when they didn’t exist 30 years ago?

A variety of factors combine to make Facilitators a cost-effective, worthwhile, and needed service. The U.S. population is aging. Families today are more geographically dispersed than ever before. Americans have lived in larger homes over the past few decades and now, when it comes time to move, most older adults want less room. They must downsize and oftentimes don’t know where to begin. For these and other reasons, the need for Facilitators continues to grow.

Do I have to use a Facilitator to use the services of Moves for Seniors?

pick and choose what you need. This could include sorting and organizing your belongings to decide what to keep, discard, and donate. Maybe you need someone to manage the process on the day of your move. Or perhaps you simply have items that need to be sent to a loved one. Just give us a call and we will get it there.

Do you have employees nationwide?

Moves for Seniors is headquartered just north of Philadelphia, PA where the majority of our team operates. The services that we coordinate are physically performed by our carefully selected network of licensed and insured vendor partners. We are federally licensed through the US Department of Transportation and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration as authorized brokers of moving services.

How does Moves for Seniors work with senior living communities?

Moves for Seniors is a resource to senior living communities in several ways. First and foremost, we are a trusted partner known for helping new residents move into senior living communities. In addition, we perform services inside of senior living communities like relocating residents from one unit to another or moving heavy items like pool tables and pianos for the community. MFS is also there to assist in planning and preparation in the event of an unforeseen circumstance like a fire or flood. We will partner with the community to coordinate the many logistical needs that maintain operational continuity in this unlikely circumstance.
