Britain fisherman, Bill Hocking has been fishing for 8 decades. He began fishing at age 10 as an apprentice on May 20, 1940. He would catch crabs and sell them at the market. Bill is still fishing to this day – he starts every morning at 5 AM despite his age.

Bill enjoys being on the water and has no intention of giving up. He will fish until he is physically unable. His life is out at sea – it is where he belongs.

Bill is a grandfather to five grandchildren, father of two. In his prime, he would spend 36 hours on the water, now he is lucky to catch a few lobsters and a crab each day. Things have changed as he aged, but he still loves the sport.

The one thing he struggles with is all of the forms as part of registration. Back in the day he would sign one paper a year and now he needs to fill in forms morning, noon and night. And as a side note, he can’t swim! That is something to worry about, which is why his wife, Margaret worries everyday about him falling in.

Bill is doing what he loves to do and will continue to do it until he can no longer fish. He is a true example of what is means to have a passion for what you do!
